A Cognitive-Behavioral Approach to Leadership and Stress Management
I explain how cognitive-behavioral coaching, combined with emotional intelligence, communication skills and twenty years in HR, helps professionals manage stress and lead more effectively.

I work with professionals, managers and executives who are facing the demands of complex environments: decisions made under pressure, the need to regulate stress, interpersonal communication that has become strained, and the ongoing challenge of asserting leadership without losing balance. In this article I want to share how I approach this work, and why the cognitive-behavioral method is at the center of my practice.
Why I Work from a Cognitive-Behavioral Basis
My practice is built on a scientific, pragmatic and action-oriented approach: cognitive-behavioral coaching. I was certified in Coaching Cognitif et Comportemental at Cabinet Chrysippe in 2021, and this remains the backbone of how I work with clients today.
Rather than offering ready-made solutions, the work in session consists of identifying, in a factual way, the thought patterns and behaviors that limit effectiveness or that generate exhaustion. From there, we co-construct adaptation strategies that are concrete and measurable. This is not about talking in abstractions. It is about looking closely at what actually happens when someone faces a difficult meeting, a conflict with a team member, or a period of sustained pressure, and then building a different way of responding that can be tested and adjusted.
This approach applies across the topics I coach on: work-life balance, leadership development, leadership and team management, time management, and stress and anxiety management. In each case, the starting point is the same: understand the pattern before trying to change it.
Twenty Years on the Ground Before Becoming a Coach
Before dedicating myself fully to coaching and training, I spent more than twenty years working in Human Resources within large international groups, including Kering, SAP and Deloitte, as well as in the health sector. I also had operational management experience and spent time as a trainer with the Armée de Terre at ENSOA.
This diversity of experience gives me a direct understanding of governance issues, organizational pressures and collective dynamics. When I coach a manager or an executive, I am not approaching their situation from the outside. I have worked inside HR functions and operational roles long enough to speak the language of business and of people managing teams under real constraints. This grounding shapes how I listen and how I frame the work we do together on leadership and team management.
Emotional Intelligence and Communication as Complements to CBT
To enrich the cognitive-behavioral foundation, I integrate other tools that support the same goal: helping someone act more effectively and with less internal friction.
I am certified in EQ-i levels I and II through the Centre de l'Intelligence Emotionnelle (2022), and I completed a program there to strengthen emotional intelligence, also in 2022. This lets me bring a structured evaluation and development of emotional intelligence into the coaching, which is particularly useful when someone's difficulty is less about what they know and more about how they respond emotionally in the moment.
I am also working toward certification in Nonviolent Communication dialogue through La Coop'CNV. The principles of Nonviolent Communication are useful for defusing relational tension and reinforcing cooperation, which matters directly for anyone coaching on communication or on stress and emotion management.
Alongside this, I draw on applied neuroscience to help clients understand mechanisms such as cognitive overload, attention difficulties, and the ability to step back from a situation before reacting to it. Understanding why the brain behaves a certain way under pressure often makes the behavioral work that follows easier to accept and to sustain.
Attention to Cognitive Diversity and Inclusion
Part of my training has focused on disability and cognitive diversity. I am certified as a référente handicap and trained to take into account cognitive differences such as ADHD, DYS conditions, and atypical spectrums. This gives me a finer sensitivity to different ways the mind can function.
In practice, this means I can support people who are themselves concerned by a cognitive singularity, as well as managers who want to lead neuro-inclusive teams well. Leadership and team management coaching, in my view, has to account for the fact that not every team member processes information, stress or communication in the same way.
A Clear Ethical Framework
Psychological safety and professionalism are the foundation of everything I do. My practice is framed by regular quarterly supervision, which keeps my work accountable and reflective.
I am also pursuing certification as a Secouriste en Santé Mentale (PSSM), which supports a strict vigilance around the boundary between professional coaching and therapeutic care. Coaching is not therapy, and part of my responsibility is to recognize that line clearly and respect it.
My approach is oriented toward verifiable results, confidentiality, and working without judgment. These are not just values I state, they shape how each session is structured, from the first discovery conversation onward.
Working Together
If you are a professional, manager or executive dealing with stress under pressure, communication that has become difficult, or a leadership role that feels heavier than it should, this is the kind of work I do. Sessions take place online, and I coach in both French and English from Cavaillon, France.
I offer a free discovery session through EraCoach, which gives us a chance to talk about your situation before deciding whether to work together. If what I have described here resonates with what you are facing, I invite you to book a session with me on EraCoach.
