Our Story
Founded in 2015 by Mathias Riedel, the Institut für Coaching und Achtsamkeit (ICA) grew out of the training division of RIEDEL BERATUNG to create a dedicated home for systemic coach education in Berlin-Friedrichshain. The institute trains a new generation of coaches by interweaving systemic thinking, mindfulness practices and creative, artistic process facilitation. Its faculty consists of professional coaches with individual artistic backgrounds and long-standing experience in mindfulness. ICA is recognized by the Deutscher Coaching Verband e.V. (DCV) and the International Organisation for Business Coaching e.V. (IOBC). In November 2024, Mathias Riedel published the book "MINDFUL COACHING" with Kohlhammer Verlag, formalizing the institute’s integrative approach.

Methods & Approach
The ICA methodology views clients within their relational and organizational systems, combining systemic principles with mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques and creative artistic interventions. Pedagogy is highly experiential: participants coach real cases under observation, receive immediate feedback from two trainers with complementary perspectives, and engage in supervised case work. The training develops intuitive method selection, the ability to read between the lines, accurate body-language interpretation and trust in emotional intelligence. No prior artistic background is required; the creative approach is rooted in the belief that every person possesses innate creative resources.

Formal entry requirements for the main certification are either a completed vocational qualification plus at least five years of work experience, or a university degree plus at least two years of work experience, plus a personal admission interview with the program leader and submission of a CV.
