Institute for Career Development

In the heart of New York, the Institute for Career Development (ICD) has been a beacon of hope for individuals with disabilities since 1917. With over a century of experience, ICD has transformed countless lives through its comprehensive services, including high school transition programs, fully accessible GED preparation and testing, certification-based career training, and employment support. Despite the challenges faced in creating an equitable system for people with disabilities, ICD has made significant strides in providing quality services that have empowered thousands of individuals to lead independent and fulfilling lives. The dissolution of the Institute marks a period of reflection and recognition of the need for greater transparency, oversight, and funding for disability services in New York. We are immensely proud of our students, alumni, and families who have shown resilience and determination in their pursuits.
