Established in 2006 by the visionary leadership of President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh, this institution has grown exponentially, now boasting over eleven thousand students across thirty-five diverse academic disciplines. The university is composed of seven educational faculties: Faculté de Droit et d’Économie Gestion (FDEG), Faculté des Lettres, Langues et Sciences Humaines (FLLSH), Faculté d'Ingénieurs (FI), Faculté de Médecine (FM), Faculté des Sciences (FS), Institut Universitaire de Technologie Industrielle (IUT-I), and Institut Universitaire de Technologie Tertiaire (IUT-T).
