About

Our Story BoostU is founded and led by Bodil Øster, MSc, PhD, a former cancer researcher who earned her PhD in virology from the Faculty of Health at Aarhus University before transitioning to senior scientist roles in industry within multicultural teams. Having walked the path from young researcher to industry leader, she now combines her scientific background with certifications in coaching and facilitation. Her mission is to empower young researchers to develop personal leadership, proactive behaviour, and life balance by breaking free from self-limiting beliefs and unconscious coping strategies that cause self-sabotage and unnecessary stress. Operating under Danish CVR 41652071, BoostU serves the academic community from its base in the Aarhus area. Programs & Trainings 🎓 Overcoming Imposter Phenomenon as an Early-Career Researcher — A 3-hour interactive workshop for 5–100 participants exploring the degrees and competence types of imposter phenomenon, unhelpful self-beliefs, and practical tools to adjust standards and boost self-confidence. Available in English or Danish on demand. 🎓 Avoiding Stress and Finding Balance in Academic Life — A 2–3 hour interactive workshop for 5–100 participants offering insights into personal stressors, work-life balance, prioritization, motivation, and research-backed strategies for thriving in academia. Available in English or Danish on demand. 🎓 Mastering Feedback and Criticism for PhD Success — A 2–3 hour interactive workshop for 5–50 participants focused on proactively managing feedback quality, accepting criticism constructively, and aligning expectations with supervisors. Addresses the link between fear of feedback and imposter phenomenon. English or Danish. 🎓 How to Get the Supervision You Need — A 2–3 hour interactive workshop for 5–50 PhD students providing practical tools for proactive supervisory management, meeting structuring, regular expectation alignment, and constructive problem-solving. English or Danish. 🎓 Knowing Your Character Strengths Matter — A 2–3 hour interactive workshop for 5–50 participants using the Values in Action (VIA) survey framework to identify signature strengths, improve well-being, performance, and collaboration. Targets PhD students, researchers, lecturers, and other employees. English or Danish. 🎓 Personal Leadership in Academia — A residential course (~25 hours total) held at the sustainable Nature House in Helberskov, consisting of two full days plus two 2.5-hour follow-up sessions (at 1 and 3 months). Focuses on character strengths, taming imposter phenomenon, creating productive habits, mental well-being, and proactive feedback strategies. Price: DKK 5,500 excl. VAT including food and accommodation; participants arrange their own transport though pick-up from Arden train station can be arranged. English or Danish. 🎓 Stress Coaching Package — A 1:1 stress coaching programme typically comprising seven sessions spread over 2.5 to 3 months, designed to foster regular reflection, resilience, and sustainable stress management. 🎓 Mentoring & Individual Coaching — Personalised 1:1 mentoring and coaching sessions available online, at the client's workplace, or in the Højbjerg coaching room, supporting growth, goal setting, and personal leadership development. 🎓 Retreats in a Sustainable Forest House — The Nature House in Helberskov (18 km from Hadsund, near the coast) hosts deep-work and writing retreats for individuals, couples, or small groups, as well as workshop retreats for 3–7 participants with accommodation in hammocks strung between trees for a close-to-nature experience. For residential programmes, nature serves as a co-facilitator, leveraging the sustainable forest setting to deepen reflection and learning.
