Our Story Godt Skoleliv, also known to families as Study House, is a private learning, teaching, and well-being center located in Aalborg, Denmark. It was founded and is jointly operated by Merete Groes Brændstrup and Maria-Louise Thane Kallehave, both qualified schoolteachers with many years of classroom experience and supplementary training in mindfulness, anxiety guidance, and special-needs pedagogy. Rejecting the traditional homework-help model that focuses solely on academics, Godt Skoleliv places child well-being as the prerequisite for all learning. Their mission is to help children and teenagers who have lost faith in themselves or the school system due to anxiety, low self-esteem, school refusal, or learning difficulties rediscover safety, curiosity, and academic confidence. The center serves families from its base at Søndergade 62 and maintains a holistic, systems-oriented philosophy: the child is never the problem, but may be caught in a problematic context. Programs & Trainings One-to-One Teaching (En-til-en undervisning), Fully individualized, face-to-face learning sessions designed around the child’s unique pace, academic gaps, and emotional needs. Every program is individualized, face-to-face, and paced according to the child’s resources, boundaries, and readiness. The team uses mindfulness techniques, anxiety-guidance frameworks, and trauma-informed teaching methods. They begin by building trust and relational safety, then gradually introduce manageable learning situations that create success experiences and rebuild self-esteem. Parental involvement is mandatory and constructive, ensuring that home and center pull in the same direction. For vulnerable children, the balance between challenge and security is carefully calibrated, never forcing an all-or-nothing approach.
